Amateur photographer since the 60s. I was born in and I live in the southwest of Holland. My first steps in photography were very elementary with a basic compact camera with black & white film. Very early I switched to my own darkroom instead of having my film developed. Black & white photography and developing my own pictures has influenced my style and taste very strongly over the years. The more artistic side of photography however, has developed since my membership of the local photo club. The motivations and the challenges of the members of the club throughout the years have helped me to grow as a photographer. I went digital, so to speak, about 9 years ago. The extra possibilities that digital photography offers, allow me to create the photos that I want and to process them the way I want. I consider myself lucky to be an amateur. That way, I am not limited in my work. Not in the choice of subjects nor in the way that I process my pictures. I know my work sometimes conjures up mixed feelings when it comes to the subject of what is real and what is not. However, that is my freedom, and my choice. I try to honor my subjects. My work has brought me now to a level which allows me not only to show my work through my photo club, but also through this website and on the occasional exhibition.
